The Tamil Nadu State Rural Livelihoods Mission (TNSRLM) is a dedicated initiative by the Government of Tamil Nadu, launched in 2012-13, to empower and uplift the lives of our rural population. Funded collaboratively by both the central and state governments, TNSRLM works at the grassroots level to promote sustainable livelihoods and financial inclusion for those most in need.

Its mission revolves around creating a supportive ecosystem for rural communities, particularly women, through Self Help Groups (SHGs).  These groups provide members with:

  • Savings and Microfinance: SHGs empower members to save money securely and access microfinance options to invest in income-generating activities.
  • Livelihood Enhancement: TNSRLM offers training programs and resources to equip members with valuable skills to improve their livelihoods and explore new entrepreneurial ventures.
  • Market Linkages: The program bridges the gap by helping SHGs connect with markets and sell their products effectively.

TNSRLM’s vision extends beyond financial empowerment.

It aims to:

  • Promote social inclusion and holistic development of rural communities.
  • Encourage community participation and decision-making.
  • Build resilience and equip women in rural households to navigate challenges.

By fostering financial independence, skill development, and market access, TNSRLM strives to create a brighter future for our rural population, paving the way for a more inclusive and prosperous Tamil Nadu.”
